Martin E. Hugh-Jones, DVM, PhD

Martin Hugh-Jones is a newly retired Professor emeritus from the Department of Pathobiological Sciences at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.  He is now housed in the Department of Environmental Studies where he continues his research focused on epidemiology and disease ecology.  Martin founded the LSU WHOCC in 1991 and continues to be the lab’s deputy director.  Martin’s research interests are diverse, but primarily focus on epidemiology and applications of spatial techniques to disease ecology.  Today he is active in several research projects both with the WHOCC and the Department of Environmental Studies.  Martin is also an active moderator for ProMED, a web-service that tracks disease reporting globally.
